Stretford & Urmston: Thank you!

Thank you to the 659 voters in Stretford & Urmston who gave Anna Fryer and the Liberal Democrats their support at Thursday's byelection.
As one of the safest Labour seats in the country we were unlikely to win, as the protest vote against the Conservative government gathered behind Labour in a swing of more than 10% against the Tories.
While we fell back slightly our vote share was better than in 2017 or 2015, in an election with a particularly low turnout due to the cold snap.
Labour 12,828 (69.6% up 9.3)
Conservative 2,922 (15.9% down 11.7)
Green 789 (4.3% up 1.6)
Anna Fryer - Liberal Democrats - 659 (3.6% down 2.4)
