Lib Dems gain control of Stockport - photo of the town hall with text over.

Liberal Democrats took overall control at a second Town Hall in the North West yesterday as we won a majority of seats in Stockport.

The 63-member council now has 33 Lib Dems - including Alice Delemare as our first councillor in the Stockport constituency (which makes up a third of the council area - the other parts being the parliamentary seats of Cheadle and Hazel Grove).

Mark Roberts, leader of Stockport Lib Dems, said: "It's 15 years in the making to get to this point."

Stockport has been in No Overall Control since 2011.
