There was a huge swing to the Lib Dems in a byelection in St Helens yesterday. The Lib Dems moved to second place, pushing the Conservatives into third.

The council byelection for Moss Bank ward saw Labour hold a seat but the Liberal Democrats increase our vote share by more than 27% while Labour and Tories fell back.

Labour: 656 [50.3%, -1.7%]
Liberal Democrat: 571 [43.8%, +27.1%]
Conservative: 78 [6.0%, -11.3%]

Congratulations to David Kent and his team for a great result.

Elsewhere in the country yesterday we gained a seat in Tillingbourne ward in Guildford, and town council seats in Beaconsfield from the Conservatives.
