The Liberal Democrats won the first council election of the year in the North West - and with a huge swing to us!

The byelection in Quays ward, Salford city council was caused by a sitting Lib Dem councillor stepping down due to taking up a new, politically restricted job.

We held the seat with a swing of 15% from Labour to the Lib Dems thanks to a great local campaign.

Liberal Democrat (Paul Heilbron): 540 [54.8%, +17.4%]
Labour: 321 [32.6%, -12.6%]
Green Party: 124 [12.6%, +3.4%]

Congrats to the Salford team!
