The Liberal Democrat candidate has said that the Government have "taken Chester for granted" and that the area deserves a local champion to fight for action on the cost of living emergency and local health service crisis.

Commenting Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for the Chester by-election Rob Herd said:

"For years Chester has been left behind and taken for granted by the Conservatives.

"From sewage being pumped into our River Dee to extreme pressure on our Countess of Chester Hospital, the Government has failed our area.

"I will be a local champion for our area working hard all year round to tackle the issues that matter to local residents. We need action on the cost of living, we need to help our health services and we need to stop Conservative MPs voting to allow sewage to be pumped into our rivers."

Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper added:

"Rob will be a local champion for Chester fighting for every vote in this election.

"The Government has failed areas like Chester for years, allowing sewage to be pumped into their rivers and failing their local health services. It's time to send them a message by voting Liberal Democrat."
